Virginia Fire Fighter Dies after Being Ejected from Front Seat of Engine - the NIOSH Report

This article presents the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) report findings on a crash involving a 30-year old male volunteer firefighter who died after being ejected from a fire engine in 2012. The article describes the victim's fire department, the fire engine involved in the crash, the vehicle driver's fire service training and experience, and the personal protective equipment being worn by the victim. A detailed description of the crash investigation is presented and a number of factors contributing to the crash and the victim's death are outlined.
