VOLT CONTROL IN TRACTION SUB-STATIONS
LA REGULATION DE LA TENSION DANS LES SOUS STATIONS DE TRACTION
In the first part, the authors recall how the performance of electric tractive units is affected by voltage drops in the current fed to the catenary. They refer to the magnitude of such voltage drops in HT lines, sub-stations and contact lines, and explain the advantages of compensating internal voltage drops in sub-stations by automatic devices. The authors then describes practical applications on the S.N.C.F.: for 1500 V direct current, compounding of groups of rectifier units via autosaturable inductance-coils or thyristor boosters in series with the rectifier unit, for 25 kV 50 Hz single-phase current, contactor or thyristor regulators under load. Such devices are not applied systematically. The authors explain the conditions in which they are employed.
