G.E.'S PLAN FOR RAIL-ROAD TOFC AND COFC AND ITRAN
The ITRAN is a depot for rail-road transhipment, the lay-out characterised by extensive automation, the overhead handling of containers and trailers, excellent use of the area, and easy adaptation to any required operating capacity, from the small yard, up to, and including a large road, or sea-port, terminal carrying out 300,000 transhipment operations per year, and having 1,000 storage areas. The above article contains a general description, in principle, of the lay-out as well as the operation, of the system. system.
