Correlation of image sequencies with 3D mapping data for positioning in airborne applications

Both in civilian and military context an increasing number of imaging data is used for detection, surveillance and reconnaissance applications. Saab has developed a unique technology for rapid, high resolution and accurate 3D mapping of large areas, Rapid 3D Mapping. The aim is to develop automated methods for correlation of 3D mapping databases with images collected from airborne systems. The objective is to develop and improve functions for detection/recognition, image supported estimation of ego position and automatic change detection in reconnaissance imagery.
