Robust engine system

This application addresses enhanced robustness of future engine systems as well as improved development efficiency. To further reduce the fuel consumption and the emissions, the engine system gets more complex and more sensors and actuators are introduced. This project will develop semi-physically parameterized models and design new engine control structures (MBD). By the models we are structuring the complex engine system in order to simplify the application work. Furthermore, with the models we improve the robustness, transient behaviour and the emissions. A method will also be developed to estimate the combustion phasing by an accelerometer sensor. By being able to determine combustion phasing we could adapt the engine system due to different fuels and ageing of components. The work will be based on cooperation between the partners. Simulation and function development will be interspersed with engine tests. In the end we will demonstrate an engine with MBD-functionality.
