BiMe Bus - energieffektiva biogasbussar för regionaltrafik

BiMe Bus - energy efficient biogas busses for regional traffic

The purpose of the project BiMeBus is to coordinate supply and demand for biogas busses suitable for long distance municipal and intra-county travel. BiMeBus combines; - Technical development by Volvo Bus of engines with MDE-technology, adapted for long distance traffic. MDE stands for Methan Diesel Engine which implies combustion of biogas in a diesel process which will get more robust engines than conventional gas buses. - A field test to put 20 buses into traffic in cooperation between Volvo Bus, three local public transport authorities with former experience of gas busses and the bus companies. The MDE technology is energy efficient. Fuel demands will be 25% lower than conventional gas motors. MDE-buses will be able to reach longer on the same amount of fuel which is essential for long distance traffic.
