Electrochemical characterisation of Li-ion batteries for hybrid applications

This PhD project is focusing on methods to determine the State of Health (SOH) of an energy storage system based on lithium-ion batteries. A detailed understanding of all relevant processes is required, and the goal is to determine models that correctly can describe battery properties. The models will be validated using experimental data from small half- and full cells and real hybrid batteries, taking aging into account. The PhD project started already in the research program “Energy systems for road vehicles”, and relies on a close collaboration between KTH, UU, Chalmers, AB Volvo and Scania, where the other partners assist with complementary performance and aging results.
