Melbourne Airport transit link

This paper describes the work that has been carried on the transit link between Melbourne airport and the city. Department of Infrastructure Victoria carried out a planning study into improving access to the airport. The study investigated various transport mode options and resulted in a planning scheme amendment process being undertaken to reserve a corridor for a future airport rail link. A description of the rail link corridor features and the future rail and civil infrastructure works is provided. As well as setting aside a corridor for the rail link, the city to airport bus link has been substantially upgraded to provide a high quality road based airport transit link known as Skybus Super Shuttle. Features of the Skybus shuttle are outlined and its performance is assessed.
