Bradfields metropolitan railway

Whilst John Bradfield was involved in a large number of diverse projects throughout his working life, it is generally accepted his influence, particularly in the area of transportation extended from 1908 to 1932. During this period NSW experienced the impact of the First World War and the Great Depression, both of which had a huge impact on the City population’s social fabric and amenity through this period. John Bradfield’s influence during this period is seen not only in the area of rail transportation, he was also involved in a staggering number of fields of expertise for one man. John Bradfield was a practical engineer, outstanding public servant and a man of vision whose greatest achievement was the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. He focused on finding planned solutions to local and economic problems in Sydney.
