A SHIP (AND SHIPYARD) GROWS IN BROOKLYN

The old Brooklyn Navy Yard has been transformed into a modern shipyard by Seatrain Lines, Inc., and it is expected to be able to build two new supertankers per year as all the new shipbuilding machinery is brought into play. The operation of the shipyard is described from the plate preparation through to the paint shop. Features of each step in the shipbuilding process are explained, with specific capacities of the equipment used included in the explanation.
