SKID RESISTANCE STUDY OF PAVEMENT CHARACTERISTICS

Riding surfaces in Oklahoma were tested with a skid trailer in accordance with ASTM E-274-65T. The various extents included samples of most types of riding surfaces and aggregates used with various ages, amounts of traffic and design criteria. Trends were obvious of a lowering of skid numbers as the number of vehicle passes increased. The minerology of the aggregates is a major factor in skid resistance.
