SP DERAILMENT INVOLVES PC FUNCTION

After a runaway locomotive indicated what the Federal Railroad Administration has termed "serious deficiences in the capability of a PC system to function as intended under certain conditions," Southern Pacific, AAR, locomotive builders and air-brake manufacturers have mounted a nationwide program to assure that atuomatic power shutoff will take place in emergencies.
