STUDY OF THE OPERATION OF A PUBLIC TRANSPORT LINE - RESEARCH INTO OPTIMUM FREQUENCIES

THIS STUDY INVESTIGATES OPTIMUM FREQUENCIES BY USING AN ECONOMIC MODEL OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT FIRM AND ITS USERS. TAKING INTO ACCOUNT SOME SIMPLIFYING HYPOTHESES (HOMOGENEOUS LINE, STEADY DEMAND, NO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS, ETC.), THE MODEL SHOWS THAT THERE EXISTS A SYSTEM OF OPERATIONAL FREQUENCIES WHICH MINIMIZES OPERATING AND USER COSTS. A NUMERICAL APPLICATION OF THE MODEL IS PRESENTED USING FIGURES OBTAINED FROM THE OPERATION OF ONE RATP LINE IN PARIS DURING 1967. /TRRL/
