DELAWARE HIGHWAY IMPACT STUDY

THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF I-95 ON NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE WAS STUDIED OVER A 15-YEAR PERIOD--PRE-CONSTRUCTION (1954- 1958), CONSTRUCTION (1959-1963), AND POST-CONSTRUCTION POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE COUNTY'S ECONOMIC BASE. SOME NEW INDUSTRIES WERE ATTRACTED TO THE COUNTY AS A RESULT OF THE INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY WHICH THE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PROVIDED. LAND VALUES IN RURAL AND UNDEVELOPED AREAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY.
