REPORT ON DAMAGES OF PAVEMENT AT SENDAI AIRPORT DUE TO TOHOKU REGION PACIFIC COAST EARTHQUAKE

東北地方太平洋沖地震による仙台空港の舗装被害

The 2011 Tohoku Region Pacific Coast Earthquake struck Tohoku Region of Japan on 11 March, 2011. The authors conducted investigation of pavement in runway, taxiway, and apron in Sendai Airport for the purpose of re-opening of the airport. Many cracks were confirmed at asphalt pavement in runway and taxiway. However, it is clarified that these cracks except the one at taxiway were not fatal damage for provisional use of the runway and taxiway. Large settlement was confirmed at a part of asphalt pavement in taxiway and concrete pavement in apron due to liquefaction. It is confirmed that these settlement areas needed to be reconstructed for re-opening of the airport.　平成23年3月11日に発生した東北地方太平洋沖地震において，震源に近い仙台空港は地震動及び津波により大きな被害を受けたため閉鎖を余儀なくされた．著者らは，4月13日の仙台空港暫定供用再開前に，主に空港基本施設（滑走路，誘導路，エプロン等）のアスファルト舗装及びコンクリート舗装を対象に調査を実施した．その結果，アスファルト舗装のひび割れは一部を除いて軽微であること，アスファルト舗装及びコンクリート舗装において液状化に起因する局所沈下が発生していることを確認した．
