STATUS AND DEVELOPMENT TRENDS IN THE USE OF NUMERICALLY CONTROLLED MACHINE TOOLS FOR SHIPBUILDING PURPOSES
The authors discuss the present status of the use of numerically controlled machine tools and of suitable programs developed for such machine tools in the East-German shipbuilding industry on the basis of developments in these fields abroad. They also discuss the development projects presently underway in these fields. At the present time the main uses of numerical control involve flame-cutting, profile-forming, plate shaping, and intermediate processing of components.
