ANALYSIS ON SPACE CHARACTERISTIC OF STREET INSIDE ARCADE
アーケードのある街路の空間特性に関する研究
The purpose of this study is to clarify a part of the process of the spatial cognition by analyzing the relation between eye fixation behavior and pedestrian movement. This moving experiment was performed on the street inside three arcades of a busy quarter in Sendai city. From the experiments, the following can be concluded: 1. The average frequency of the eye fixation per walking time of the resident in Sendai city is more frequent. 2. The eye fixation subject with low degree of spatial cognition focuses on the facades of buildings and the subject with high degree of the spatial cognition focuses on the pedestrians. 3. It is extremely difficult for visitors to search the specific shop in the arcade space closed by the floor, wall and ceiling.
