LINEAR-MOTORIZED FLAT YARD SYSTEM
A linear-motorized freight car speed control equipment was developed for the yard automation. A large scale testing of the freight car pusher, the electromagnetic freight car retarder and booster-retarder has been carried out in an actual yard and were tested for their control ability with good prospects of practical application. An improved control system is considered for testing in combination with the computer technology to develop a more complete yard automation.
