Well foundation construction in bouldery bed

Well foundation has been used for a number of bridge piers in various parts of the world. Construction of well foundation in cases of sandy soil strata is an easy task, whereas well foundation in cases of bouldery bed is really a challenge for bridge engineers. There are a number of cases where this type of foundation has been used at bouldery bed sites, but it has posed a challenge to bridge engineers due to heterogeneous character of the soil strata underneath. A case study of a well foundation construction for bridges in bouldery bed strata has been discussed in this paper.
