CONSOLIDATION OF THE CORE OF A ROCKFILL DAM TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE SOIL CREEP /IN RUSSIAN/

THE GENERAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION FOR ONE- DIMENSIONAL CONSOLIDATION OF THREE-PHASE SOIL MASS HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS OF A TRAPEZOIDAL SYMMETRIC DAM CORE. THE SOIL HAS BEEN CONSIDERED AS A PARTLY SATURATED KELVIN BODY. THE EXPRESSIONS FOR PORE PRESSURES AND STRAINS HAVE BEEN GIVEN IN THE FORM OF FOURIER SERIES AND NUMERICAL RESULTS OBTAINED BY USING A DIGITAL COMPUTER. LINES OF EQUAL PORE PRESSURE HAVE BEEN PRESENTED FOR THE END OF CONSTRUCTION PERIOD AND FOR A GIVEN TIME AFTER SUDDEN FILLING OF THE STORAGE BASIN. THE REDUCTION OF PORE PRESSURE COMPARED TO THE RESULTS OBTAINED FOR NONVISCOUS SATURATED SOILS HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE VERY IMPORTANT. THE POSSIBILITY OF TREATING THE SOIL AS A KELVIN BODY CONNECTED IN SERIES WITH A HOOKEAN SPRING HAS BEEN DISCUSSED. /AMR/
