THE COMPACTIBILITY OF SANDS AND SANDY GRAVELS

THE UNIFORMITY COEFFICIENT AND THE SIZE OF PARTICLES FORMING THE SOILS POURED IN AIR-DRY CONDITION AND COMPACTED WITH DIFFERENT COMPACTING EFFORT ARE DISCUSSED IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR INFLUENCE ON DRY DENSITY, AND THE ROLE OF WATER CONTENT IN THE COMPACTION OF THESE MATERIALS IS EXAMINED. EXPERIMENTS FOR THE STUDY OF THESE INFLUENCES ARE DESCRIBED TOGETHER WITH THE RESULTS OBTINED. /AUTHOR/
