STRESS ANALYSIS FOR TIME-DEPENDENT PROBLEMS IN ROCK MECHANICS

A THEORY FOR ANALYSING TIME DEPENDENT PROBLEMS IN ROCK MECHANICS IS PRESENTED. THE FORMULATION OF SUITABLE STRESS-STRAIN-TIME RELATION IS DISCUSSED. METHODS FOR INCORPORATING THE EFFECT OF VARYING STRESS ON THE STRAIN-TIME PATH ARE CONSIDERED. FINALLY, NUMERICAL METHODS FOR ANALYSING TIME DEPENDENT PROBLEMS ARE PRESENTED AND THEIR USE ILLUSTRATED THROUGH EXAMPLES. /AUTHOR/
