PHOTOELASTIC INVESTIGATIONS OF DISCONTINUOUS ROCKS

THE ANALYSIS OF RESULTS FROM MODEL INVESTIGATIONS OF DISCONTINUOUS FOUNDATION SOILS IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF SOME YUGOSLAV HIGH DAMS IS DEALT WITH. BY USING THE METHOD OF PHOTOELASTICITY, A DETAIL STRESS ANALYSIS WAS WORKED OUT ON THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL MODELS OF ARCHES AND FOUNDATION SOIL (BOTH CRACKED AND CONTINUOUS) OF THE DAM GRANCAREVO AND THE DAM MRATINJE, WITH A SPECIAL ACCENTUATION OF THE ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF CRACK GEOMETRY ON THE CHANGE IN THE STATE OF STRESS. THE RESULTS OF PHOTOELASTIC INVESTIGATIONS FOR MODELS OF MULTILAYER MEDIA HAVE ALSO BEEN GIVEN. /AUTHOR/
