DESIGN OF TUNNEL LINING BY MEANS OF A GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF MODIFIED FREY-BAER'S CONCEPT FOR DETERMINED ELASTICITY MODULUS OF CONCRETE

A NEW METHOD OF DESIGNING NONREINFORCED CONCRETE LINING IS DESCRIBED. THE PROCEDURE IS VALID FOR HYDROTECHNICAL TUNNELS OF CIRCULAR SHAPE, COACTIVATED BY THE ROCK MASS, WHOSE GEOTECHNICAL PROPERTIES ARE KNOWN. BASED ON THE THEORETICAL STATEMENTS OF FREY-BAER, A SIMPLE MATHEMATICAL FORMULA WAS MADE, ENABLING THE PREPARATION OF NOMOGRAMS. ACCORDINGLY, THE PROCESS AVOIDS THE NECESSITY TO MAKE CALCULATIONS, OFFERING STILL VERY ACCURATE RESULTS. ALL PARAMETERS CAN BE CHANGED HERE. NOMOGRAMS ARE SO PLOTTED THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF RESULTS MAY BE OBTAINED QUICKLY. AMONG OTHER THINGS, THE PROCESS IS CONVENIENT FOR SELECTION OF A MORE ECONOMIC VARIANT OF A TUNNEL REGARDING THE ROCK MASSIF THROUGH WHICH THEY PASS. SIMILAR NOMOGRAMS ARE BEING PREPARED FOR REINFORCED TUNNEL LINING. /AUTHOR/
