SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT DECONSOLIDATION FISSURES OF ROCK ON STEEP SLOPES

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS GIVEN ON THE DECONSOLIDATION OF STEEP SLOPES FOR VARIOUS SITES IN ISRAEL. FROM THE DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE FISSURES THE MODE OF FORMATION IS DEDUCED. IT IS FOUND THAT THE DECONSOLIDATION MAY START BY FISSURATION DUE TO STRESS CONCENTRATION, AND MAY DEVELOP BY FURTHER CREEP. INFILTRATION WATER HAS A CERTAIN INFLUENCE. THE KNOWLEDGE OF THESE PHENOMENA IS IMPORTANT WHEN PLANNING TO BUILD HIGH BUILDINGS OR OTHER STRUCTURES ON THE SLOPE. /AUTHOR/
