STRESS CONCENTRATIONS AROUND PORES IN SATURATED ROCKS OF LOW PERMEABILITY

THE INFLUENCE OF PORE WATER PRESSURE UPON THE STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN VERY LOW PERMEABILITY POROUS ROCKS IS EXAMINED. THE ENCLOSED WATER IS CONSIDERED TO BE COMPRESSIBLE; THUS THE PORE WATER PRESSURE IS A FUNCTION OF THE DEFORMATION OF THE SURROUNDING SOLID. SOLUTIONS ARE PRESENTED FOR SATURATED SPHERICAL AND CYLINDRICAL OPENINGS. /AUTHOR/
