Application of the Center of Gravity Measurement Based on the Dynamic Wheel Loads Measurements of Vehicles
Drivers of semi-trailer trucks cannot always grasp the freight conditions inside the marine transport container. Overload or dislocations of the freight can lead to hazards that include turning sideways. Conventional weigh-in-motion (WIM) devices can detect overload or dislocation, but a driver must recognize the truck's centroid position and pay attention to a curved road's running speed in order to keep the truck from turning sideways. The authors used KYOWA LS-WIM technology to conduct running tests in which a freight truck's wheel loads were weighed and the centroid position is calculated. They report the dynamic measurement of a running truck's centroid position.
