STATISTICAL PROCEDURES ARE USED TO DESCRIBED CONSOLIDATION DATA FROM VARIOUS TYPES OF COMPRESSIBLE, FINE-GRAINED SOILS, AND AN APPROXIMATE METHOD IS DEVELOPED TO ESTIMATE CONSOLIDATION SETTLEMENTS.
