The Multi-Point Synchronous Grouting Method for the Bottom of Caisson Foundation of an Offshore Bridge

Long span bridge construction continues to increase around the world. For such bridges founded on caissons, it is very important to integrate the bottom of the caisson with the ground. In this study, a new method for grouting the gap below the bottom of a caisson, in which injection is accomplished simultaneously by means of multi distribution pipes, has been developed. Since visual verification during construction is very difficult for grout injected below large-footprint, offshore structure caissons, a full scale test is carried out on dry land in order to evaluate grout fluidity, segregation resistance, self leveling, compressive strength and injectability. In addition, an exclusive ship is manufactured for the construction at sea. Finally, an injection management system is developed to monitor the real time injection status automatically. This method was applied to the Busan-Geoje fixed link project.
