Reliability of Accurate Calculation for Hazardous Materials Transportation Risk

The precise form of incident probability model can provide a more accurate measurement result for hazardous materials transportation risk if it does not meet relevant axioms. The study analyzes that the measurement results of the model will be unreliable and unpractical even if the authors can find an appropriate algorithm for it. This paper employs three axioms that a reliable risk model should satisfy to verify the reliability of the precise form of incident probability model. Finally, the results show that the precise form can satisfy three axioms. Its results will be reliable as long as both accident probability and path length are in actual level. In addition, it provides a theoretical basis for using the precise form to select path for hazmat transportation.
