Contact Analysis of Interaction between Beam and Bearing in Cable-Stayed Bridges

The existing studies on local stress analysis usually simplify the compression bearing into two-way bearing, which cannot precisely simulate the interaction of beam and bearings and its influences on the section. In this paper, taking Jianbang cable stayed bridge as an example, in order to simulate precisely, contact element is introduced to simulate the interaction between bearings and beam. The fraction force, compression together with deflection would counterbalance the external forces, which otherwise needs to be counterbalanced by tension offered by constrain, making the analysis result reasonable. Results are also obtained from simplified method—regarding tension free bearing as two-way bearing. Finally, two sets of result reveal that the interaction is weak.
