RELATIONS CHARACTERIZING THE DEFOMATION OF CLAYEY SOIL IN TIME /IN RUSSIAN/

THE PROBLEM OF CREEP OF CLAYEY SOIL AND ITS DEFORMATION IN TIME IS DISCUSSED BY ASSUMING THAT IT CAN BE EXPLAINED BY THE CREEP OF THE SOIL SKELETON. ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE FACT THAT TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON RELATIVELY THIN SOIL SAMPLES (THIS FACILITATES RAPID WATER PERCOLATION). COMPACTION BY FILITRATION DEPENDS NOT ONLY ON THE COMPRESSIBILITY AND SATURATION OF THE SOIL BUT ALSO ON FILITRATION CONDITIONS AND SPECIALLY ON THE THICKNESS OF THE LAYER TO BE COMPACTED. /LCPC/RRL/
