Improving Water Stability of Granite-Asphalt Interface by Adding Titanate Ester Coupling Agent

Titanate ester coupling agent (TECA) is compatible with not only inorganic materials but also compatible with organic ones. In this study, in order to improve the granite-asphalt interface water stability, the interface was modified by TECA. Experiments prove that TECA can effectively improve the interface performances of granite aggregates. When the concentration of TECA in asphalt reaches 0.37%, the adhesiveness grade can be raised from 2 to 5. The Retained Marshall stability (MS0) and the retained tensile strength ratio (TSR) after two freezing and thawing cycles can be improved 15% and 34%, respectively.
