Identifying the Cause and Effect Factors of Traffic Safety at Freeway Work Zone Based on DEMATEL Model
For the driving of vehicle being complicated, the freeway work zone has been one of space zones, at which traffic congestion and various incidents occurred more frequently. Based on driver-vehicle-road (environment) system theory, the contributing factors indices system of traffic safety at freeway work zone was given. The relations between contributing factors were analyzed quantitatively by the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) model on the basis of analyzing the inter-relations between each pair of indices with the Delphi method. According to the relation, the effects of factors were discussed; and then in terms of the prominence, the key factors contributing to traffic safety at freeway work zone were presented. Results of analysis showed straightforward measurements for the traffic control and traffic environment improvement.
