Access Mode Choice Model for Highway Passenger Station
With the continuous construction of China's highway network, highway passenger transportation is rapidly developing to be an important main mode, occupying a leading position in Chinese intercity passenger transportation. Actually, it plays a crucial role in station planning and evaluating the related transport policy to be aware of the choice behavior and mode share rate of passenger's access mode to the highway passenger station. Because of this, taking the city of Shenzhen to be an example, this paper constructs an access mode choice model of Shenzhen highway passenger station with Multinomial Logit Model. Based on passenger survey data of Shenzhen Futian highway passenger station, the authors choose trip time and trip cost as the variables which could describe the characteristics of access mode. What's more, combining with the other variables which affect the access mode choice, such as those describing the passenger's individual social-economical characteristics, the authors estimate the model's parameters and have a statistical test to screen out variables which have no obvious effect on access mode choice to be as precise as possible to reflect the choice behavior of passenger's access mode and to provide a basis for related planning decision making and policy evaluation.
