THE FRICTION ANGLE OF NON-COHESIVE SOILS /IN GERMAN/

THE AUTHOR ESTABLISHES THAT SHEAR TESTING OF A DISTURBED SAMPLE ENABLES THE RELATION BETWEEN COMPACTNESS AND FRICTION ANGLE TO BE DETERMINED. IN A LEVEL TEST THE FRICTION ANGLE IS ABOUT 10% HIGHER THAN IN A TRIAXIAL TEST, AND THE BEDING OF THE SHEAR LINE HAS AN INFLUENCE UP TO 25% ON THE ANGLE OF FRICTION. THE LATTER SHOULD HOWEVER NOT BE FIXED TOO LOW, AS RESULTS OBTAINED IN TESTS OFTEN DO NOT AGREE WITH PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE. /FG/RRL/
