CAR WHEEL SETS USED ON THE GERMAN FEDERAL RAILWAYS FOR INCREASED TRAIN SPEED
WAGENRADSAETZ DER DEUTSCHEN BUNDESBAHN FUER HOHE GESCHWINDIGKEITEN
The article reports on running tests carried out by Deutsche Bundesbahn with wheels of different materials on vehicles equipped with block and disk brakes. Accordingly, the wheels should be made from non-alloyed carbon steel with a carbon content of less than 0.5% and fitted with heat-treated sliding surfaces.
