METHOD OF CALCULATING PILES STRESSED IN THE EARTH (IN GERMAN)

THE AUTHOR DEVELOPS AN ITERATION METHOD WHICH ENABLES THE CALCULATION OF SOIL PRESSURES OF SECTIONS IN THE PILE TO BE MADE USING THE MEANS EMPLOYED TO CALCULATE BEAMS ON AN ELASTIC BASE. UNDER THE EFFECT OF HORIZONTAL FORCE THE PILE TURNS AROUND A FULCRUM CAUSING EARTH PRESSURE TO BE EQUAL TO ZERO, BOTH ON THE SURFACE AND AT THE FULCRUM. IF A QUADRATIC DISTRIBUTION OF PRESSURE IS ASSUMED, THERE RESULTS A SOIL CONSTANT WHICH INCREASES UNIFORMLY UP TO A MAXIMUM VALUE FROM THE SURFACE TO THE FULCRUM. THIS CONSTANT THEN REMAINS THE SAME SIZE DOWN TO THE BASE OF THE PILE. THE POSITION OF THE FULCRUM IS DETERMINED. BECAUSE OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN DRILLING DEPTH AND PILE DIAMETER THE DEFORMATION OF THE PILE MUST ALSO BE CONSIDERED. EXAMPLES OF CALCULATION ARE PRESENTED. /RRL/
