This book is intended for use by engineering and technical personnel in water transportation. An analysis of the present state and prospects for developing marine diesels is presented, and a method of evaluating their technical state is presented. Designs and calculations of the strength of various engine parts, their systems, and auxiliary mechanisms are examined. Methods of lowering the noise of marine diesels are described, and the characteristics and a description of four-cycle and two-cycle diesels which have been used in the fleet are given.
