Development of Pedestrian Route Guide System Based on Road Name Address Data

This study relates to pedestrian route guide. The pedestrian route guide creates network data for pedestrian route guide reflecting upon transportation characteristics for the transportation facilities that enables pedestrian transportation such as roads, sidewalks, crosswalks, underpasses, overpasses and so on. Thereby it relates to the technology that provides guidance to pedestrians from the origin to the destination and also provides point of interest (POIs) guiding service. The structure for the network data used in this study is made uniform according to the road section data for Road name address system. This minimizes expenses, including maintenance fee, when creating pedestrian route guiding system. The route guiding service that are provided through smart phone is assumed to be useful in countries, like South Korea, where traffic signs, building numbers have been arranged to comply with road name address system.
