Study of Cooperative ITS deployed in Japan: Analysis on “ITS Spot Services”
This paper reports the result of an analysis on “ITS Spot Service,” which is a Cooperative ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) that began operation throughout Japan in 2011. An outline of the ITS Spot Services is illustrated and then installed locations of roadside units are analyzed. The services are classified and the types of site where respective services are provided are analyzed. In addition, technical issues that appeared after starting operation of ITS Spot Services and the measures taken to resolve them are also reported.
