Image Recognition Application Systems Utilizing Surround View Cameras
Recently, surround view cameras including a rear view camera are becoming widespread. Meanwhile, demand for reducing traffic accidents is high, so various advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are proposed. If the view cameras can be utilized as surround obstacle detection sensors, the ADAS with high cost-performance can be realized. Furthermore, they can be mounted without spoiling the car design. However, there are some technical concerns to obtain enough recognition performance because of utilizing view cameras under outdoor environment. They are in particular image distortion caused by wide angle camera, illumination fluctuation, complicated background and so on. This paper describes image recognition algorithms for these concerns on the typical assistance systems applying surround view cameras.
