Surveillance acoustique des câbles : Guide méthodologique du système CASC - LPC

The 'CASC' system (Acoustic Control for Monitoring of Cables) is a monitoring system concerning all type of structures containing tensioned cables or tendons (such as suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges, prestressed structures with internal or external post-tensioning,). Once in place, it allows the detection and location of the wire breakage events, by the energy and the acoustic waves released when the wires break. This system allows automatic alarms and remote monitoring of structures. This guide describes this method through the physical phenomena on which it is based and the apparatus used. It gives the reader all the necessary advices for the proper implementation of this method on structures, from designing up to the interpretation of results used in decisions relating to the management of the structure.
