GENERALIZED EXPRESSIONS FOR THE MINIMUM TIME INTERVAL BETWEEN CONSECUTIVE ARRIVALS AT AN IDEALIZED RAILWAY STATION
The basis of analysis in the paper is the operating philosophy stipulating that the distance between two successive vehicles must be no less than the following vehicle's stopping distance based on emergency braking capabilities. The spacing constraint introduced includes an integral term to account for the distance consumed while a vehicle's emergency braking system is responding to a signal to commence deceleration. The modeling presented implicitly assumes a capability to continuously measure the exact distance between successive vehicles.
