Dry Pavement Stops with and without ABS: New Vericom Data
In 2012, Vericom released a table of drag factor data. This data was obtained from 932 braking tests and significantly expands the knowledge base for both antilock brake system (ABS) and non-antilock brake systems (non-ABS). Tests were conducted on dry roadway surfaces. This data can assist in assessing the probabilities associated with the ABS and non-ABS stopping capability of modern vehicles. The test results presented in this table indicate that the common assumption of assuming a 12% improvement of ABS over skidding values may not be sufficiently accurate.
