OVERSEE - A Secure and Open In-Vehicle ITS Station
Smart vehicles, equipped with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2X )communication capabilities, are just around the corner. Innovative intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications, enhancing traffic safety and efficiency, based on connectivity among vehicles are technical feasible and expected to be seen in near term future. In this paper, the authors will present results of the European research project OVERSEE - Open Vehicular Secure Platform. OVERSEE delivers a design and proof of concept implementation of an open in-vehicle application and communication platform. The authors will present the technical architecture, the key concepts and the results from the proof of concept phase of the project. These results could be used as a starting point for real world secure and open in-vehicle platforms, being the basis for deployment of cooperative ITS in the car.
