Evaluation of Restricted Crossing U-Turn Intersection as a Safety Treatment on Four-Lane Highways
At nine rural road intersections with four-lane divided highways in Maryland, conversion to the restricted crossing U-turn design reduced crashes by up to 44 percent and reduced the severe injury and fatality rate among crashes by 9 percent.
