IN A COMPARISON OF SOIL AND WATER LOSSES FROM NATURAL RAINFALL AND SIMULATED RAINFALL USING A RAINULATOR, SOIL LOSSES AND RUNOFF FROM SIMULATED RAINFALL AVERAGED 77% AND 101%, RESPECTIVELY, OF THOSE FROM NATURAL RAINFALL. THUS, ALTHOUGH A RAINULATOR CAN BE USED TO EFFECTIVELY SIMULATE RAINFALL FOR RUNOFF AND EROSION RESEARCH, EI VALUES AND SOIL LOSSES FROM RAINULATOR STORMS WILL BE ABOUT 25% LESS THAN FROM NATURAL RAINFALL FOR SIMILAR INTENSITY-DURATION PATTERNS.
