Evaluation of real time floating traffic data
This article explores a new method for monitoring road network activities using real time floating car data. The new method is based on fleets of vehicles using onboard GPS units to report their position and on analyzing mobile vehicle data to detect vehicles’ approximate position. The author compares three methods to evaluate the quality of the data: visual, scatter, and time domain. Also discussed is the possibility of using the methods to select a supplier and monitor the quality of the supplied product.
