ASECAP looks to drive tolling forward

This article is a report on the 2013 annual Study and Information Days event of ASECAP (European association with tolled motorways, bridges, and tunnels). The event was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and was attended by more than 200 members of the road infrastructure sector in Europe and elsewhere. Presentations were made in the fields of policy and technology. There was a joint declaration on tolling with ASECAP's United States counterpart, IBTTA (International Bridge, Tunnel, and Turnpike Association), calling for increased advocacy and application of tolling policies to support infrastructure worldwide. A member of the European Commission presented on the current status and future policy development of European Electronic Toll Service. There were several presentations on technology, particularly intelligent transportation systems. The 2014 event will take place in Athens, Greece.
